All phases of schooling at St Mary MacKillop are informed through Brisbane Catholic Education's Learning and Teaching Framework and the Alice Spring's (Mparntwe) Declaration (2019). The Alice Spring's (Mparntwe) Declaration sets two goals for the education of all Australians:
- The Australian education system promotes excellence and equity.
- All young Australians become:
- Confident and creative individuals
- Successful lifelong learners
- Active and informed members of the community.
In alignment with both the declaration and the Brisbane Catholic Education Learning and Teaching Framework, we support students at St Mary MacKillop to become successful lifelong learners, and active and informed members of the community. This is encouraged through our collaborative, nurturing and inclusive learning environment that has an involved and dedicated parent body. The teachers, support staff and volunteers inspire high expectations for learning that maximise engagement. At St Mary MacKillop, we are further supported by a significant provision of technology across the school where devices are used in a variety of flexible ways to enhance learning.
Our school's great contemporary Australian patron, St Mary MacKillop, serves as an example to aid our student's as they grow in character to be confident, resilient and creative young people. Each year, we draw from one of the values from the Mary MacKillop story to integrate into the religious and pastoral aspects of our school to assist in engagement, school spirit, responsibility, social skills and well-being. The HUGE values our school has adopted are: humility, unity, gratitude, and empathy.
